Visual project planning

See your whole project plan at once

Task lists show what to do. They don’t show how the work fits together. Flowboard puts every step of a project on one canvas, in columns you choose, connected in the order they happen.

Why lists make projects feel harder than they are

In a long list, every task looks equally important and nothing shows what depends on what. You lose the shape of the project: which phase is stuck, which steps can happen in parallel, and what has to finish before launch. A visual plan makes those things obvious at a glance.

How it works in Flowboard

  1. 1

    Set up your phases

Create columns for the stages of your project, like Plan, Build and Launch, each with its own color and progress bar. Start blank or from a template such as Product roadmap, Sprint planning or Kanban.

  2. 2

    Add steps and ideas

Drop in step cards with status, dates, priority, checklists and time estimates, plus sticky notes, to-do lists, images and shapes wherever they help.

  3. 3

    Connect them in order

Draw connectors between steps. Mark a connector as a dependency and the later step waits until the earlier one is done.

  4. 4

    Find what matters

Turn on critical path to highlight the longest chain of dependent steps, or focus mode to fade everything not connected to the step you’re working on.

When to use it

  • Planning a project with several phases
  • Explaining a plan to a team, client or teacher
  • Seeing what can happen in parallel and what can’t
  • Spotting the steps that decide your finish date

Common questions

Is Flowboard a whiteboard or a project planner?
Both, in a sense: it has the freedom of a canvas (place anything anywhere) with the structure of a planner (columns, statuses, dates, dependencies and progress).
Can I export my plan?
Yes. You can export the board view as an image or a PDF to share or print.
